 As we wrap up the Kirk Pengilly trilogy retrospective, it’s time for many of our valued patrons to hit him up for question time. Forever the gentlemen and Mr. Nice Guy, Kirk graciously answers these with passion and purpose.

It was a true joy hearing from Kirk last week and are excited to elaborate on his journey in the second part of our deep dive.
In this episode, we get to know the real Kirk away from the limelight of an international rock star. Humble community activist, health/vision ambassador, and devoted husband to wife Layne Beachley.
As a youngster moving from Victoria to New South Wales, the sliding door moment he met Tim in science class was a moment that changed Oz rock forever and Kirk’s insights into this are truly fascinating.
We elaborate on the famous Kirk diaries, the infamous stumble off stage (thanks Michael), and excitedly share patron questions direct to Kirk with excellent answers to follow!

With no topics off-limit, Kirk recounts those critical early days where he moved interstate and skipped a grade thus famously meeting Tim Farriss in science class. A sliding doors moment that led to millions of peoples lives changing globally, with the seeds of INXS born.

After 67 episodes now completed, Bee and I were in for a treat with our latest guest Phillip Mortlock.
Not only intrinsic in assisting INXS to leave the smaller independent label Deluxe that produced INXS’ first two albums, but Philip’s massive expertise with other luminary bands such as Cold Chisel and Icehouse also paved the way for his artistic prowess to design The Swing, Dekadance and Listen Like Thieves album covers.
With clever themes and narratives highlighted on all of the singles, videos, and album covers/sleeves, Phillip was crucial in introducing the world to the timeless images and vistas that were INXS.
Having forged a career that included being a board member with A.R.I.A, producing the inspiring Alberts Documentary, and building the Origin Publishing Label, Philip has left an indelible footprint on the Australian entertainment industry.
So sit back and be taken back to a time and place that is most special to INXS fans. Peace and love!

INXS has always taken great pride in their cover art, liner notes, and image shots for each album release. With icons of the industry like Nick Egan and Pierre Winther playing a huge part in capturing timely images, INXS were definitely image innovators.
